Material Specialist


COMPANY/DEPARTMENT:   RVI- Inc. / Manufacturing

REPORTS TO:        Plant Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non Exempt / Full-time

JOB SUMMARY: The Material Specialist has the primary responsibility of loading, unloading and move materials within the manufacturing facility. Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipments.


     Rotation of all receiving, shipping, and logistics program duties
     Logistic center duties include sorting incoming product, repacking and relabeling units, requesting return authorization from other manufacturers, and preparing units for shipment.
     Perform daily audits and cycle counting for balance-on-hand accuracy.
     Accurate data input into RVI-Inc’s ERP system and also customer systems
     Timely and accurate communication with external and internal customers via phone or e-mail.
     Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
     Determines the method of shipping product.
     Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons indentifying shipping information
     Packages units into correct boxes or containers
     Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage
     Examines outing shipments to ensure shipments meet customer specifications
     Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages
     Routes products to departments
     Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies
     Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to assist in loading or moving material and products from shipping and receiving platforms to storage or work areas
     Knowledge of inventory software
     Knowledge of excel, word and e-mail software

Many tasks include their own work and /or the review of work of others in the department


     High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
     One to three months related experience and /or training

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be acceptable.


Able to lift up to 40 lbs., walking, stoop, kneel, couch and crawl being on feet for 8 plus hours per work day.
