Fabrication Coordinator

COMPANY/DEPARTMENT:   SpecSys, Inc. / Manufacturing

REPORTS TO: Plant managers
FLSA STATUS: Non Exempt / Full-time

JOB SUMMARY: The Fabrication Coordinator has primary responsibility to prep, program, and release work orders to the Fab departments for Laser, Plasma and Saw cutting.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Utilize CAD / nesting software and manufacturing experience to:

     Program Nests on Lasers and Plasma Tables throughout the SpecSys organization.
o  Ability to calculate square ft. and lineal ft. usage of material and create material requisition for the purchasing department.
o  Optimization of sheet steel, with minimal drop where possible and applicable.
o  Understanding of partial sheet inventory and other raw material inventory, by location, to further utilize that material that initially could not be fully optimized based on job schedules put forth.
     Release Nests per build schedules, by product or project, to the Fabrication Departments at the respective SpecSys plants.
o  Review drawing requirements and identify special requirements or possible manufacturing concerns.
o  Determine if the item aligns with SpecSys manufacturing capabilities and product scopes.
o  Identify missing information. Request missing information from Project Management,
Sales Team, SpecSys6 Engineering, etc. in a clear and professional manner.
o  Verify customer provided drawings are accurate and drawn to scale; also verify file format is compatible with nesting /viewing software used by SpecSys.
o  Verify required tolerances are clear, and noted on documentation to assure capability and quality of end product.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND STANDARDS:

     Pro-Nest, Global Shop, and Microsoft Excel Software knowledge and use is essential, or equivalent.
o  Basic knowledge of computers and controls is a must.
     Detailed understanding of part drawings, dimensions and tolerances, and material specifications.

     Understanding of each facilities Plasma, Laser, and Saw capabilities.
     Read and understand written information.
     Identify problems, review information and use math & software skills to solve problems.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

     High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
     1 Year of Experience.

OR

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be acceptable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Able to lift up to 50 lbs., bending, crawling and being on feet for 8 plus hours per work day.
